Peter Ch’ng is a seasoned multi-disciplinary offshore lawyer with over 25 years of international corporate, banking and trust experience focusing on the laws of the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Bermuda. He is Special Counsel at David Cameron Law Office and also works in association with BVI law firm, George and Partners.

His diverse practice covers private client and offshore trust and estate planning, banking and finance, corporate commercial, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, insurance and reinsurance, investment funds,, private equity and venture capital, structured finance and digital assets, cryptocurrency and digital token issuances. 

A key pillar is his Private Client & Trust practice focusing on servicing the Greater China and Asia-based clientele and the establishment and administration of offshore family and commercial trusts.

​This includes specializing in non-contentious advisory work for family and commercial trusts and generating private wealth legal solutions for high net- worth individuals, business owners, investors, corporates and charitable entities on trusts and estate planning matters, including succession planning, family and pre-IPO planning, asset protection, family business succession and governance as well as the set-up of employee benefit trusts and other bankruptcy-remote structures including charities, Cayman foundation companies, setting up master-sub trusts structures for insurance policy ownership solutions.

Peter also advised on mergers and acquisitions, insurance and reinsurance, licensing and formations launches including insurance-linked (ILS) structures, investment funds, segregate portfolios company (SPC) and segregated accounts company (SAC) structure, private equity partnership formations, structured finance, special purpose vehicles and ownership- remote structures, debt and equity offerings, IPOs and private placements, banking and financial services including financial derivatives, credit and security and general corporate and commercial matters across multiple jurisdictions.

He also served as a non-executive director on the boards of US and Irish software technology and consumer goods subsidiary companies based in Bermuda.

Prior to joining DCLO, Peter was a Partner and Director at Conyers Dill & Pearman in Hong Kong and Bermuda. Earlier in his career, he was Vice President and Legal Counsel at The Citigroup Private Bank in Singapore and was a Senior Associate at Drew & Napier and an Associate at Allen & Gledhill in their corporate departments. 

Peter is admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore, a Solicitor in England & Wales, an Attorney and Counsellor at Law in New York, a Barrister and Attorney in Bermuda, and a Solicitor of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (British Virgin Islands). He holds an LLB (Upper Second Class Honours) from the National University of Singapore and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (Wealth Management) from Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. 

 

Peter is a Full Member (TEP) of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
