DCLO Welcomes Peter Ch'ng as Special Counsel
David Cameron Law Office (DCLO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Ch'ng as Special Counsel. The appointment strengthens the firm's offshore capabilities and its commitment to delivering exceptional legal counsel to clients in Hong Kong and across Asia.
Peter is a seasoned offshore lawyer with more than 25 years of international corporate, banking and trust experience, focusing on the laws of the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Bermuda. He is admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore, a solicitor in England & Wales, an attorney and counsellor at law in New York, a barrister and attorney in Bermuda, and a solicitor of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (British Virgin Islands). He holds an LLB (Upper Second Class Honours) from the National University of Singapore and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (Wealth Management) from Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. He is a Full Member (TEP) of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), and also works in association with BVI law firm George and Partners.
A core part of Peter's practice is private client and trust work for clients in Greater China and across Asia, including establishing and administering offshore family and commercial trusts. He advises high-net-worth individuals, business owners, investors, corporates and charitable entities on non-contentious trust and estate planning. This covers succession and pre-IPO planning, asset protection, family business governance, employee benefit trusts and bankruptcy-remote structures such as Cayman foundation companies.
Peter has also advised on M&A, insurance and reinsurance (including insurance-linked structures), investment funds, private equity and venture capital, structured finance, and debt and equity offerings including IPOs. His work extends to banking and financial services and to digital assets, including cryptocurrency and token issuances. He has also served as a non-executive director of Bermuda-based subsidiaries of US and Irish technology and consumer goods companies.
Before joining DCLO, Peter was a Partner and Director at Conyers Dill & Pearman in Hong Kong and Bermuda. Earlier in his career he was Vice President and Legal Counsel at Citigroup Private Bank in Singapore, a Senior Associate at Drew & Napier, and an Associate at Allen & Gledhill.
