Roddy is an experienced international corporate, commercial, corporate finance and regulatory lawyer. He is admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales, as a solicitor in Hong Kong, and as an attorney in New York State. He holds a Master of Laws degree in tax law (with Merit) from King's College London University and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Edinburgh.
Prior to joining David Cameron Law Office, Roddy was a partner of a well-known Hong Kong law firm for more than four years and he was a senior lawyer at major international law firms including Linklaters and Clifford Chance in London and New York. He also interned with the New York State Department of Law.
Roddy has advised major public companies and funds on M&A, IPO and private equity transactions. He has advised on formation of offshore funds, structuring of multinational
groups and inbound investment. He has advised corporate parent companies on constitutional documents, management incentives and shareholder disputes. He has advised investment holding companies on debt financing, security documents and the issuance of secured notes. He has advised project companies on secured development loans. He has advised corporate groups, funds and investors on private placement documents and regulatory exemptions. He has also advised on complex international commercial matters, including tax optimisation, transfer pricing, licencing, fuel and other supply agreements, contracts of affreightment, power purchase agreements and emission reduction purchase agreements.
In addition to his work in private practice, Roddy has served as legal counsel to a multinational fund and corporate group structuring and delivering sustainable resources projects in China, South-East Asia, India and the USA. He has advised on the delivery of ground-breaking clean energy and sustainable resources projects registered under the United Nations Clean Development Mechanism.
Roddy has been published in professional legal journals including Tax Notes and International Tax Notes.
